Installing Tin Roof (Day 1)

3/21/09

We've been waiting for this day for a long time. And now, it's finally here. James picked up our tin on Friday and began installing it on Saturday. We ordered some galvalume 26 guage tin with deep ridges and a matte finish. It looks so good! James and I were both really happy with the tin. On this first day, he got 9 pieces of tin put up.

  1. Oh, that could have been very tiring for you! The good thing is that you have some company that helped you finish it. Anyway, I’m glad that you chose tin roof for your roof. It is because metal roofs can protect homes from extreme weather conditions and quite durable. And though rarely require maintenance, it will be best if you checked on it regularly.

  2. That picture made me realize how dangerous that job is. It looks like the guy on top of that roof is not even wearing any rope ties. I do hope he is wearing non-slippery shoes. Anyway, it's been four years, how's your tin roof doing now? I would like to suggest you guys cover your roof with protective paint at least once a year. It will make it more resistant and tolerant against corrosion that could damage your roof.

  3. Congratulations on your new roof! Are those black ash shingles? With that color, I'm sure that your roof will be able to stand the test of time. It does look great, but you know what would be more awesome? Posting some closer shots of it!
